relationships: new and long term
Posted by knxtreme under daily thoughts | Tags: Adventure, Graduation, New Beginning, Seniors, Youth Pastor |Thirty two insanely hungry people loaded on a people mover headed to a whole new beginning of relationship, xperiences and adventure. The starting point for all things Xtreme. Tonight was outstanding, deal or no deal with a life size “no deal” button was the highlight of the evening as far as games go. But I know that God has once again entrusted me with a great group of kids that I get to walk through the next few years to see them through to graduation. Which is always a really tough time of year for youth pastors. What a journey with this group of seniors. Some of the greatest kids that have ever been around are about to close their chapter of Xtreme as they head of to university and become adults. Lots of emotions go with this one, lots of great, fantastic, tough and unbelievable memories.
But in the middle of all of that today I got a phone call. Important phone call to me. One from an adventure seeker like me who set out on journey that he never came back from. One that was a huge risk but has turned out into a dream job. He just called to talk. Relationships are really where life is at. We talked and at the end I prayed and once again I remember why I live life the way I do and follow Christ in the manner that I have chosen.
Then to just top the afternoon off, a prodigal kid who has come home and has come to her senses, stopped by to talk for a moment and share about how life is going. We talked about decision making and how life can hand you some really tough circumstances and that it comes down to each of our individual choices. She is back at home where she should be actually stopping by to get me involved in yet another adventure with a missions organization that she know is authentically doing something to make a difference. She thought of me and brought by a sample of their product so I could take action.
LIfe is meant to be lived with relationship in it. Both old and new and I would encourage you to invest more than you ever have in the friendships that you have and work really hard at new ones you can develop.
